Hi Cornel, I’m sorry to hear you left your documents behind!
Entebbe Airport staff do need customer service training. Some months back I took a flight from Entebbe. With all the security checks, I had left my favourite belt behind. I talked to the security staff about it and they really belittled me, as if it didn’t matter and I should just leave it. I didn’t take no for an answer and ran the length of the airport until I found it!

Luckily my brother works at one of the banks at tge airport and could pick up the stuff i left behind. Since i was leaving for a long time, the decision on what to take and what to leave was so difficult since i wont be back for at least 2 years. So i just removed clothes and other stuff i can replace and left them at Ebtebbe. But on arrival i realised in the process my documents also stayed in Uganda. Entebbe has some of the least helpful staff ever.

Hi Melanie, nice to hear from you. Yes I was travelling with Emirates. I could not believe how much they charge per extra kilo. I looked all over their website for information on extra baggage but it was not there because I had to change flights. One leg of the trip was a Quantas plane. Apparently the policy is that Emirates can’t tell you how much it will be for extra luggage as they don’t always know who the carrier will be. My friend had paid for my ticket back to the UK expressly so I could take some of his belongings home for him. I then had to dump half of them at the airport! It was highly embarrassing. When I paid for extra luggage in the past, I have paid $50 or $100. (I think I had three extra bags). To take the extra 14 kg would have cost my friend several hundred dollars. No, there is no way you can bargain. The staff were not at all sympathetic.
Thanks for your offer to take stuff back to Europe for me. Hope you’re keeping well!

Hi Paul, interesting fact for you: in Hebrew, the meaning of ‘ken’ is right, veritable or honest. I think I lucked out! πŸ™‚

Many of us lack the sens of communication which costs us nothing but rather may be our carriers. What we are trained in customer service we leave them in book. But anyway thanks to Ken He deserves the best.

Eh banange Daniel – I KNEW it!!!
Are muzungus all rich?
Of course, when I arrived at check-in with seven or eight bags, I must have looked very well-off. But, my friend paid for my ticket and all the stuff was his, not the impoverished blogger’s!

They had started sharing out your stuff in their minds. An airline ploy the world
