How does Amahoro Tours work to benefit the community?
The company has been in operation for nineteen years, serving Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda. Amahoro Tours complements the work of two other organizations.
In 2011, Greg Bakunzi, the owner of Amahoro Tours, set up Red Rocks Rwanda is a social enterprise for the residents of the Musanze area (adjacent to the gorillas) to benefit from tourism. Here visitors can learn about bee-keeping, basket-weaving or banana beer production and brewing. Go hiking in Rwanda and mountain biking. We offer backpacking services as well as provide tour guides to make your visit easy, fun and enjoyable. Visit the Art Centre and the Dian Fossey Museum. Stay in a homestay. Plant trees. Become a conservation volunteer.

As ideas developed and people started getting excited about Red Rocks, Greg Bakunzi says “I decided it would be better to have one big box which enables everyone that was interested to try and develop his/her initiatives altogether. This is when I came up with the idea of registering a non-profit, by the name of Red Rocks Initiatives for Sustainable Development.
