“UK to slash international travel ‘red list’ to just nine countries.”
Quarantine will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers from 45 other countries from later in October.

I note that removal of need to quarantine will only apply to fully vaccinated travelers.
Fingers crossed that UG is not one of the nine who stay on ‘some kind of’ list…

Thanks… It’s great to be travelling again although it was a bit of a hassle, as you have read. Totally worth it tho 🙂

Thanks very much Les, shall pass your wishes on to the Birthday Boy!
If you’re planning to travel to Uganda from Australia, I would first have your two vaccinations. Also, make sure you don’t stop over in India, otherwise you won’t get into the country! India is currently ‘category one’ meaning no entry, regardless of the circumstances. A handful of countries are category two, and require you to be fully vaccinated or do an extra PCR test on arrival. At the time of writing, category two countries include (but are not limited to) UK, USA, Kenya, Tanzania.
Have you had your vaccinations yet? I hear they are now rolling them out in Australia…

Thank you Ma. I’m not sure my adventure was that heroic (!) but it certainly was the post-lockdown adventure I needed. When I reached Spain, I had to keep pinching myself: I am finally here! It took me several days to acclimatise to being in Europe. The long summer evenings reminded me that I am in a very different world … and a world that is slowly reopening too … HOORAY

And what a surprise for everyone but me. I am just overjoyed. Well done Nagawa, you said you wanted an adventure. I did liken you to someone trying to get into France in the Second World War to join the resistance!

Wow Ingrid, that would have been cool! Thank you for the invitation, Ohrid looks beautiful!
Vilanova a la Geltru / Catalunya turned out to be ideal: I have missed the sea more than any other thing during lockdown and I love Mediterranean food. I have French and Spanish ancestors so it was wonderful to reconnect with mainland Europe again. It also felt good to have a bit of freedom! I could not believe I was finally in Europe after so many days planning…!

It’s currently an amber country, but should soon go green as there have been very few new daily cases and no deaths countrywide in the last month from Covid, and many people travel back and forth to the UK from here.
